VCalm™ is a multipurpose
sign designed for calming traffic. Excellent applications would
include school zones or other areas where speeding vehicles are a problem.
It uses the latest
technology for high visibility.
The VCalm™ is equipped with six operational modes. Each mode has a
programmed
combination of settings. A Breakdown of those settings is given:
The “SPEED LIMIT” setting is similar to the MUTCD No. R2-1 sign. It has a
static message
(does not change).
The “YOUR SPEED” setting displays the vehicle’s actual speed! This is
accomplished by a
built in radar unit and dynamic numeric display. The “YOUR SPEED” portion of
the sign is
static and the numeric portion changes according to the oncoming vehicle’s
speed.
The “SLOW DOWN” setting displays the message “SLOW DOWN” when a vehicle
exceeds a
programmed limit. Different numerical options are available.
The “BLANK-OUT” setting is designed to have no message or numerals.
Web Programmable
As an option, you can have your VCalm™ completely accessable through the
Web. This option allows you to change the programming and download vehicle
counts remotely from your computer. This is possible through a Nextel™ modem
that will be placed in the sign, and also includes GPS coordinates of the
sign to make sure that you’re programming the right one.
Solar Powered
If electricity is an issue in your city, you may want to choose the solar
package. This makes VCalm™ completely independant with its own power supply.
Strobe Light To make sure that you get the drivers’ attention, you can have
the sign flash a high-intensity strobe light at them if they exceed your
programmed threshold speed.
